Grupo Casas Bahia’s ESG history has begun a long time ago, and to carry on such journey, we share our purpose with everyone related to us.
We desire to become a benchmark in Brazil’s retail sustainability due to our commitment to the circular economy and low-carbon principles, diversity and inclusion, also our ESG-related performance.
Ten years ago, we have kicked-off our recycling program. Today, REVIVA is the largest recycling program in Brazilian retail.
Our 60-year old Casas Bahia Foundation works to support communities in which we operate, with professional qualification initiatives, creating jobs and income for youngsters and micro-entrepreneurs.
Diversity and inclusion are present in our DNA. Brazil has been represented in our company, and over the past 60 years, we have been granting credit to our clients. Today, we have our fintech banQi that pursues such a legacy, contributing to the financial and digital inclusion of millions of people.

Pillar: + Environmental Preservation
- Package recycling: all recyclable waste of stores, distribution centers, even packages returned by customers during delivery of products are sent to 11 cooperatives that recycle these materials. Thus, besides reducing the environmental impacts, we also contribute to generating income for 250 households, members of these cooperatives.
- Electro-electronic collectors at stores: customers can appropriately discard used or broken electronic products, also cells and batteries. We already have 500 collectors distributed throughout the country.
The low-carbon economy is also our major front, combating climate change. We are focused on logistics efficiency, by implementing actions that contribute to reducing greenhouse gases, such as the mini-hubs expansion, the Click&Collect service at stores, and the ASAPALog. The latter allows the delivery of products through lighter vehicles, besides including them in our fleet.
We also work with renewable energy, which directly contributes to a low-carbon economy.By 2022, 50% of all energy used in our operations will be acquired from clean and renewable sources. By 2025, we will reach 90% of energy derived from these sources.
These actions will occur by using solar energy, already adopted in over 80 stores of the group, also through the acquisition of the free market’s incentivized energy.
